Geneva School of Boerne hosted its last regular season home game Friday in a non-district contest against Compass Rose San Antonio.
Geneva prevailed 54-0 behind a stellar defense that gave up negative four (-4) yards on the night.
Freshmen Shae McNew and Chase Doran paced the offense for Geneva. Making his first start at the quarterback position, McNew had 3 rushing TDs and 1 passing touchdown.
Filling in at quarterback, fellow freshman Chase Doran was 2 for 4 passing for 15 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.
At the running back spot, Doran had one carry for a 7-yard touchdown, and as a wide receiver, he caught 5 passes for 63 yards.
On defense Doran had an interception and later took a blocked punt in for a touchdown on special teams.
Geneva is now 5-4 on the season (2-2 in district), while compass Rose falls to 0-8.
Earlier in the season, Geneva had a league opponent drop out of the district and move to 6-man football, which left everybody in the district scrambling to find a game or only play nine regular- season games this year.
Compass Rose agreed to play the Eagles and are struggling a bit and have only scored one touchdown all year.
Because of that, Geneva coach Grant Gaston gave his starters the night off.
Geneva’s bye week is late this year and comes this Friday. After being off on Nov. 1, the Eagles close out the regular season on Nov. 8, with a road trip to Corpus Christi to take on John Paul II.
