Geneva School of Boerne picked up a pair of wins this week after the Eagles defeated TMI – Episcopal on Tuesday and St. Anthony on Wednesday, both at home.
Geneva topped TMI, 11-4, and then blew out St. Anthony, 14-1, and is 10-1-1 overall. The Eagles are off until next Tuesday when they host St. Michael’s.
Vs. St. Michael’s
Geneva had a fast start and scored 7 runs in the first inning, added 3 in the second and 4 more in the third, while St. Anthony scored its only run in the top of the second.
The Eagles finished with 10 hits in the game and had doubles from Guy George, Luke Valdez and Chaz Lutz.
George added a single and scored a run, Valdez picked up 3 RBI and scored twice and Lutz added a single, scored 2 runs and picked up 2 RBI.
Colton Lutz drove in 3 runs, Cannon Menn hit 2 singles and collected 2 RBI, Hudson McNew walked twice and scored twice, George Viña walked twice and scored a run, while Shawn George scored twice and Ford Elizondo added a run.
Jake Roberson went 3 innings and earned the win after he gave up 3 hits, 1 run and 2 walks, while striking out 3.
Valdez and McNew both tossed an inning and fanned 2 batters each.
Vs. TMI
Geneva never trailed but they had a hard time shaking the Panthers until late in the game when the Eagles scored 7 runs in its last two at bats, including 5 runs in the sixth to create some distance.
Geneva outhit TMI, 15-7, and recorded doubles from Guy Kohler, Ford Elizondo, Chaz Lutz and 2 from Hudson McNew.
Guy George hit 2 singles and scored twice, George Viña crossed home plate two times, Kohler added 2 singles to his double, Lutz drove in 3 runs, scored 3 runs and added a single to his double, McNew added a single to his 2 doubles and picked up 3 RBI; Lutz pushed in 3 runs and scored 3 times; Luke Valdez drove in 2 runs; Colton Lutz had 2 RBI and Shawn George singled.
Guy George went 6 innings and picked up a win after he gave up 6 hits, 3 earned runs, fanned 6 and walked 1, while George Viña tossed an inning and yielded a hit and struck out 1.
