Regional cross-country meet scheduled for Tuesday

Kendall County will be well represented at this year’s Region IV cross country meet in Corpus Christi that takes place Monday and Tuesday.

Both the Champion varsity teams, along with the Boerne High boys and the Comfort High boys and girls teams will compete with hopes of going to state.

All the Kendall County entries are scheduled to race Tuesday. The Comfort girls compete at 9:15 a.m., the Bobcats run at 9:45 a.m., while the Lady Chargers race in the 5A girls division at 10:30 a.m.

The Boerne boys and Champion boys will begin their race at 11 a.m.

The county teams did well at district and are sending two teams that won district titles and three runners that claimed individual titles.

The Champion boys and Comfort girls both snagged team titles at district, while Charlie Houck and Elizabeth Leachman ran to individual titles in their respective races and Comfort’s Ella Thiele also secured an individual title.

Leachman is the defending 5A state champion.

The Comfort boys, Champion girls and the BHS boys were all second in the team standings at district.

This year’s state meet is scheduled for Friday – Saturday, Nov. 1-2, at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock. The 3A and 5A races will be held Saturday morning.
