Champion track teams run at Rouse Raider Relays

The Champion track and field teams were in action last week at the Rouse Raider Relays and the Chargers held their own against some big 5A and 6A schools.

The Champion track and field teams were in action last week at the Rouse Raider Relays and the Chargers held their own against some big 5A and 6A schools.

Champion’s girls took 1st with 251 points, while the Charger boys were 4th with 184 points.

Up next, Champion competes at district set for April 12-13 at NB Canyon.

Varsity Girls

Chachi Gonzales placed 2nd in the 400 with a 59.56 and Riley Burkey was 5th at 1:01, while Gonzales won the 800 after running a 2:12, Lyle Rideout placed 3rd with a 2:27.

Gonzales and Kate Williams went 1-2 in the 1600 after Gonzales ran a 5:02 and Williams posted a 5:24, while Kynley Albright placed 6th after running a 5:37.

Williams took 1st in the 3200 with a time of 11:21, Grace Flores was 5th and Kamryn Neer 6th with times of 12:08 and 12:30.

Addison Hankins came in 4th in the 100 hurdles after clocking in at 16.48 and Hankins took 2nd in the 300 hurdles with a 47.07.

The 4x100 of Madison Meinke, Hankins, Anna Giles and Riley Burkey finished 6th with a 50.47, the 4x200 of Carsyn Bradley, Regan Garcia, Finley Shanley and Meinke finished 5th with a 1:48 and the 4x400 relay of Burkey, Garcia, Meghan Huerta and Lyle Rideout posted a time of 4:12 for 2nd.

Hailee Goodwin threw the shot put 32.02.50 for 6th, Avery Case placed 6th in the discus with a toss of 103-04, Riley Burkey came in 2nd in the high jump after clearing 5-2 and Ainsley Rosenow tied for 4th after she cleared 5-0.

Talia Venner went 9-0 in the pole vault to tie for 5th, while Burkey had a leap of 17-7 for 4th in the long jump.

Varsity Boys

Brock Lewis finished 4th in the 110 hurdles after clocking in at 15.68 and Lewis also came in 4th in the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.88.

Champion’s relay of Sawyer Bolli, Arlis Adickes, Alex Rodriguez and Corbin Mitchell teamed up for 2nd with a 1:31, while in the 4x400, Ranger Lewis, Brock Lewis, Bolli and Benjamin Blomqvist combined for 3rd after turning in a time of 3:29.

Connor Warzecha tossed the shot put 47-01.50 for 4th and Warzecha also came in 3rd in the discus with a throw of 153-06.50.

Luke Rossi tied for 1st in the pole vault after he went 14-0 and Brooks Jones came in 4th in the vault after he cleared 12-6, while Brock Lewis had a jump of 19-11 in the long jump that earned him 5th place, Cade Gault had a measurement of 41-03 to finish 2nd in the triple jump and Hayden Brace tied for 3rd in the triple jump after he went 41-01.

Also, Ephraim Tonn-Bourg competed in the 100- and 400-wheel chair events and turned in times of 19.42 and 1:06.54.
