OCTOBER 16

KENDALL COUNTY BINGO: Join the Kendall County Aggie Mom’s Club at the Cana Ballroom, 202 W. Kronkosky St., for 10 rounds of Bingo with the chance to win one of 10 purse prizes. Dinner is included with all tickets and will be served from 6-7 p.m. 

CONSIGNMENT SALE EVENT: Explore this pop-up bi-annual consignment sale for all things maternity, baby and kids, all the way through juniors, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kendall County Fairgrounds, 1307 River Road. Local families sell their gently used, high-quality items; shoppers can score 50-90% off retail prices. Find everything your children need and want for this season and the next. Tickets are $5.

OCTOBER 17

MOTHS, OWLS AND S’MORES, oh my! Join the folks at The Cibolo for a fun 2024 Texas Pollinator Bioblitz mothing event. They’ll begin around the campfire with S’mores, then venture down to Cibolo Creek to discover what moths are being attracted to blacklights with special guest TPWD Biologist Craig Hensley. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the Cibolo Nature Center. Tickets: $10/ person or $30/family.

BOOST BOERNE BUSINESS: Enjoy food, drinks and door prizes, with the opportunity to meet other business owners and marketing professionals in the area. The event runs 4-6 p.m. at Herff Farm, 33 Herff Road.

YODEL BLITZ DELIVERS lively German folk music with yodeling, three-part harmonies, accordion, clarinet, bass, brass, alphorn and cowbells. The free event, from 7-9 p.m. at the Patrick Heath Public Library amphitheater, 451 N. Main St., is a sure-fire fun, beer-drinking, dance-along good time.

OCTOBER 18

ADULT NIGHT HIKE at Cibolo Nature Center: Hike the trails at sunset. Night Hikes for Adults are longer hikes, using unfamiliar trails. The hike begins at 7 p.m.; expect to spend time without flashlights in hopes of viewing nocturnal wildlife. Cost is $15 per adult. Details: [email protected].

OCTOBER 19

BARKTOBERFEST: Join Hill Country Animal League for the fourth annual Barktoberfest! This Oktoberfest-inspired festival will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Main Plaza and include doggy dash races, a dog costume contest, local beer vendors, music, food trucks, pet adoptions from local rescues, a petting zoo and more.

TACKLING GERMAN RESEARCH: The Genealogical Society of Kendall County guest speaker Lloyd Shenberger will address “Tackling German Research and Their Changing Borders,” from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Heath Library community room. The meeting is free and open to the public.

NATIVE PLANT SALE: The Native Plant Society of Texas will be holding its Fall Native Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Herff Farm, 33 Herff Road. Members of the Boerne chapter will be on hand to answer your gardening questions.

ANTIQUE TRACTOR PULL: The AgriCultural Museum and Arts Center, 102 City Park Road, is hosting their fall antique tractor pull event ffrom 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Watch antique tractors from around Texas compete to pull the heaviest weight the furthest distance. This is a free event.

WILD GAME DINNER: Some of the finest food, from amazing returning cook teams as well as a few new ones, includes bacon-wrapped quail, fried alligator and axis, and wild boar chili verde. Gates open at 4 p.m. at the Kendall County Equestrian Center, 648 FM 289 in Comfort, and service begins at 5 p.m. Tickets can ONLY be purchased at the door. 2024 BEC FOUNDATION Charity Golf Tournament is the sixth annual fundraising tourney that benefits local nonprofit organizations in the BEC service area. At the Fair Oaks Ranch Country Club, Saturday is the 5:30-9 p.m. dinner and dance, followed by Sunday’s 9-10:30 a.m. breakfast and putting contest, and the 10:30 a.m. shotgun start. OCTOBER 26

CEMETERY COMES ALIVE: Actors will portray important Boerne and Kendall County figures buried at Boerne Cemetery for the “Gone But Not Forgotten Tour” of Boerne Cemetery. Co-sponsored by the Genealogical Society of Kendall County, Patrick Heath Public Library and the city of Boerne, the event places actors at the gravesites of famous, interesting and important historical figures, who will tell the touring audience about their lives, their families, their businesses and their battles. Tours begin at 10:15, 10:45 and 11:15 a.m. at the East Gate of the Cemetery, 700 N. School St. Tours are free and open to the public.

BOERNE BOO TIME: The Boerne Boo fall festival hits the grounds at the Heath Public Library, 451 N. Main St. in Boerne. The free family-friendly event features arts and crafts, trick or treating, bounce houses, carnival games, food trucks, music, and, of course, lots of candy and prizes for costume contest winners. Pets are welcome.
