Search on; mum on woman

Search on; mum on woman

Law enforcement and a search-andrescue team gathered near a wooded area off Interstate 10 Friday afternoon but would not say if they sought a missing San Antonio woman.

Officials referred questions to the Texas Rangers as the lead authority on the search. A command post was set up about 2 p.m. on grounds behind The Towers of Boerne strip mall at 1595 S. Main St.

Speculation surrounds the disappearance of Suzanne Simpson, 51, a Realtor and Olmos Park resident missing since Oct. 6.

Her husband, Brad Simpson, 53, has been charged with assault and unlawful restraint, both carrying a bond of $1 million each. He remains in the Bexar County jail.

He was taken into custody earlier this week after a traffic stop on I-10 in Kendall County.

Simpson’s tie to Boerne and Kendall County include a brother, Barton Simpson, who lives in the area.

The brother-in-law released a statement via Facebook this week: “Our family is devastated by the disappearance of our beloved Suzanne. We are doing everything we can to fully cooperate with law enforcement, and our first priority is to find her and bring her home,” Barton Simpson posted.

At 3:15 p.m., Texas Ranger Kevin Wright confirmed the search had been called off for the day. He did not specify if crew would return Saturday.
