The Boerne softball team began the second round of district play just like the first round – with a run-rule victory over Bandera.

The Boerne softball team began the second round of district play just like the first round – with a run-rule victory over Bandera.

In their first-round 28-4A meeting, Boerne won 15-0 at home over the Bulldogs and on Tuesday, the Lady Hounds were at Bandera and picked up the 13-0 win behind 5 homers.

Boerne improves to 19-4 overall and 6-0 in district.

BHS is home Friday to host Davenport for Senior and Parent Night.

The Lady Hounds scored all 13 of its runs in the first four innings with 3 in the first, 2 in the second, 5 in the third and 3 in the fourth behind 15 hits.

Heidi Maytum hit 2 home runs and a double and picked up 5 RBI, while Madi Dorrow, Ava Renteria and Ashley Clingman all recorded homers.

Taylor Wilson tripled and scored; Brooke Sivek hit 2 singles and scored twice; Cameron Cooper hit 2 singles and scored a run; Ava Rodriguez hit 2 singles and scored; Morgan Duty plated a run; Taryn Madlock scored once; Ava Nieto singled and scored and Shelby Wright knocked out a single.

Ava Rodriguez picked up the win on 91 pitches and only gave up 2 hits, 3 walks while striking out 8.
