Boerne ISD cross country teams get in one final meet before district race

The Boerne ISD cross country teams from Boerne High and Boerne Champion raced in one final meet last Saturday before running at the District 26-5A meet scheduled for this coming Wednesday on the Flat Rock course in Kerrville.

Boerne Champion

The Chargers were scheduled to run in Southlake at Bob Jones Park but it was cancelled so a scaled-down boys team of V/JV members ran at the Northside meet where they finished 16th out of 26 teams.

Charlie Houck led the team after he was 12th in a time of 15:56, Luis Tovar came in 22nd in 16:09, William Coover placed 131st in 17:24, Luke Mitchell posted a 17:42 for 154th and Noah Moreno was 170th in a time of 17:59.

Boerne High

The Boerne High cross-country teams closed out the regular season by taking first place at the Seguin Matador XC Invitational in the 5A/6A division.

BHS defeated teams from Seguin, Buda Hays, Patriots Homeschool, Lafayette, Pearland Dawson, Clemens and Victoria East.

Varsity Boys

The Greyhounds dominated and had five within the top 8 and only scored 23 points to run away with first place.

Carsten Bain, Aaron Garcia and Barrett Crofut went 2-3-4 after Bain clocked in at 16:14.63, Garcia ran a 16:15.14 and Crofut recorded a 16:26.36.

Jackson Temple was two spots behind Crofut after he was 6th with a 16:52.91, while Valor Menn also posted a top-10 finish after he placed 8th in 17:11.16.

Ethan Christianson finished with a time of 17:55.46 for 19th, while Ben Macias, Julian Wasel and Braylen Thomason were 23rd, 24th and 25th with times of 18:03.25, 18:05.69 and 18:11.55 and Hunter Prince completed the course in 19:27.15 for 38th.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Hounds won with 49 points in the field of seven teams.

Eleanor Davis finished second in the race with a time of 20:06.30, Penelope Kirk placed 6th in 20:32.73 and Sophia Karageorge made it three Lady Hounds in the top 10 after she was 10th in 20:59.23.

Kelsey Farar was one spot back in 11th with a 21:07.64, Keira Sawyer came in 20th after posting a 21:52.24, Abigail Jendrusch clocked in at 22:35.43 for 33rd and Noelle Muir was 37th in 22:59.46.

Catherine Bailey ran a 23:27.23 for 45th, Ry Asher placed 49th in 24:52.23 and Brooke Asher 26:56.16 for 56th to round out the team.
