Champion golfers at Bart Granger Invitional

The Boerne Champion boys golf team made their annual trek to the Bart Granger Invitational, the largest high school golf tournament in the nation.

Champion was 9th overall and finished 2nd amongst all 5A schools competing in the tournament.

“I am extremely proud of their performance,” said Champion golf coach Jared Martin.

The Chargers turned in scores of under 300 all three days and were ninth with an 888 after shooting rounds of 298, 296 and 294.

Prosper Walnut Grove (835) won the event, Mansfield (837) came in second and Jesuit (848) rounded out the top three in the field of 51 teams.

Tristan Frantz shots rounds of 69, 73, 76 for a 218 to place 37th, Aidan Taylor posted rounds of 78, 71, 71 for a 220 for 47th, Chase Knight turned in rounds of 74, 74, 75 for a 223 that was good enough for 57th, Matthew Mendoza came in tied for 102nd with rounds of 77, 82, 72 for a 231 and Dylan Buckley was 186th after he carded rounds of 87, 78, 79 for a 244.
