Benway leaves school district post for Bartlett Cocke staff position

After more than four years as the public face of the Boerne Independent School District, Bryan Benway has departed, bound for a job with a San Antonio area construction giant.

Benway, 42, starts as Director of Marketing for Barlett Cocke General Contractors on Oct. 14. He will work out of the firm’s corporate headquarters in San Antonio.

Benway, whose final day as Boerne ISD director of communications is Oct. 10, has been with the district since March 2020.

Over the past three years, the Boerne ISD communications and community partnerships department has won more than 50 statewide awards, from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA), including several gold medals as best in category.

“Thank you to everyone at BISD and our amazing community for their support over the last four and a half years,” Benway said. “Our talented team raised the bar and took our communications department and district to the next level. We love celebrating the success of our talented students and staff and informing our community. Thank you for letting us be a part of it.”

Benway expressed his enthusiasm at joining the construction company, whose award-winning projects in relation to its renovation work at Austin Community College’s Rio Grande campus, includes construction of Pieper High School, the UTSA Science and Engineering building, and Our Lady Of The Lake’s main building restoration.

“I’m looking forward to working with the exceptional team at Bartlett Cocke, including many future projects in our community,” Benway said. “Bartlett Cocke is a highly respected organization across Texas. I am honored to join their family.”

Benway will continue to reside in Boerne, where his wife, Danica, is employed by the school district.
