1,000 books before kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a great way to initiate your children’s lifelong love for reading.

Reading has long been associated as an early indicator of academic success. By beginning your child’s reading journey early, you can help them gain the confidence necessary to become a strong reader.

Starting your 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten journey is simple. Come by the youth desk to pick up directions and your first 100 books counting sheet. This is an “at your own pace” program.

When you are done reading your first 100 books, return your sheet and your child will get their name placed on our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten bookshelf display. For every 100 books read, their name will move up the bookshelf, and they will receive fun prizes along the way.
