BOERNE — Boerne residents will turn out en masse today to welcome Jason Tabansky home after his gold medal-winning performance in the 2024 Paralympic Games in France.
The city will rally at 5 p.m. at Veterans Plaza, 801 S. Main St., to applaud Tabansky for his medal-winning efforts and for once again putting Boerne, Texas in the international spotlight.
Tabansky knocked off the world’s top ranked para-archer to claim gold at the 2024 Paralympics Games in Paris. Tabansky won the W1 archery competition over No. 1 ranked Han Guifei of China in the gold medal match.
“I was here to perform and thankful to God I was able to make it all the way to the end and have a gold medal around my neck,” the army veteran told Stars and Stripes immediately after winning gold.
Tabansky entered the Olympics ranked No. 3 in the world in his classification and was the sixth seed after preliminaries.
Local dignitaries will be in attendance to welcome Tabansky home. He will have his gold medal with him and will pose for photos with Boerne residents who turn out for the event.
