SAN ANTONIO – With Boerne High a 5A school now, there will be many athletic events between the Greyhounds and Boerne Champion going forward, but the very first competition in district history was held Tuesday when the two water polo teams met.
The Chargers and the Greyhounds clashed in San Antonio at the Alamo Heights Natatorium for a district match and the Champion boys and girls notched the first wins in their series with the Greyhounds.
Champion took the boys match over the Greyhounds, 20-9, and is 3-0 in district, while the BHS boys slip to 1-2 in district and is 1-8 overall.
In girls action, the Lady Chargers won 15-5 and is 2-1 in district, while the Boerne girls are 0-8 overall and 0-3 in district.
The Chargers also challenged Alamo Heights and the girls won 17-8 to stand at 11-5 overall, while the Champion boys defeated the Mules, 18-16, and is 12-4 overall.
