Joy Louise Brussel was born on October 24, 1935 in Kendalia, Texas, on the ranch she loved so much. Joy passed on April 4, 2022, to be with her beloved husband, Frank. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Norma Krause of Kendalia; and the love of her life, Frank Robert Brussel Sr.
Joy is survived by one sister, Doris Nuckles and husband W.A. of Lampasas Texas; two sons, Frank Robert “Bobby” Brussel Jr. and wife Susan of Kendalia, Texas, and Terry Brussel and wife Dianne of Johnson City, Texas; two grandchildren, Brandi Brussel and partner Christine of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Tyson Brussel and wife Jessica of Bulverde, Texas; three great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed all aspects of ranch life, the livestock, wildlife, her flowers and garden. The ranch was the gathering place for the family to celebrate birthdays, holidays, anniversaries or just to get the family together. Her greatest joy was being a loving wife mother and grandmother.
Joy worked for 34 years at the Blanco Independent School District as tax assessor/collector and secretary to the superintendent and school board.
She was very involved in the community so we are asking in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Kendalia VFD, Community Club, Kendalia Library or charity of your choice.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco, Texas, where funeral services honoring Joy’s life will be held at 9:30 in the chapel Friday morning with Pastor Wayne Mathis Officiating. Joy will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Frank, at Kneupper Cemetery in Kendalia, Texas.
