Boerne Champion traveled a long way to kick off the 2022 girls soccer season.
The Lady Chargers were at the National Elite Prep Showcase Tournament in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and played two tough games and tied both matches. They had another match cancelled.
Champion starts the year at 0-0-2 and will play in the Northeast ISD Tournament beginning Thursday against Southlake Carroll.
The Lady Chargers opened with a 1-1 tie against Plano West. Champion coach Kara Walters said Plano West was recently ranked No. 1 in the nation.
Mack Arendall tallied the team’s only goal while Mya Serda picked up the assist.
Audrey Riordan was in goal for the Chargers and came up with 11 saves.
Up next, Champion faced another ranked team in Flower Mound and the teams battled to a 0-0 tie.
Flower Mound had 20 shots, 13 on goal and the Lady Chargers tallied 11 shot and 9 on goal.
Riordan was in goal for the Champion defense and recorded 13 goals.
