Boerne High played in its third and final volleyball tournament of the season last weekend when they took part in the Kerrville Tivy Hill Country Invitational.
The Lady Greyhounds went 4-2 and finished in fourth place at the event. Boerne is 16-5 overall and continued district play Tuesday with a return trip to Kerrville to take on the Tivy Antlers.
Haley Wheeler and Kaylie Bourn were both named to the all-tournament team last weekend.
Boerne won its first four matches at the event and went 3-0 in pool play, all via sweeps on the first day. The Hounds won their first match of the tourney on Day 2 before dropping their final two matches in the semifinals and finals.
In pool play on Friday, BHS laid the lumber to Lampasas, 25-11, 25-7, beat the Battlin’ Billies of Fredericksburg, 25-22, 25-19 and then defeated Ann Richards or The Richards School for Young Women Leaders, 25-19, 25-12.
Boerne returned the next day and bumped Blanco to advance to the semifinals and faced Incarnate Word. In the semis, the Lady Shamrocks were able to hand the Hounds their first loss of the tourney, 25-19, 25-23, and send BHS to the third-place match.
In the third-place game, Boerne took a game off Cedar Ridge but fell in three sets, 25-20, 28-30, 25-22.
