A ‘Royalty Reunion’set for pageant, parade
BOERNE — Eleven contestants are hopeful they will reign supreme this weekend, as the Kendall County Fair Association prepares to name its 75th annual Fair Queen and her Court.
The Queen’s Scholarship Pageant is held annually in conjunction with the Kendall County Fair on Labor Day weekend. Young ladies from all over the county vie for the title of Miss Kendall County.
This year, five young women are contestants for the title of queen: Carmen Arreola, Sophia Barter, Isabella Casare, Kaydence Cazares and Makenna Jureczki. Competing for the title of Junior Miss are Abigail Dittman and Perri Kapellusch. With their hats in the ring for the title of Little Miss are Paisley Arreola, Presley Arreola, Eleanor Flournoy and Ellie Gilroy.
All will have their names called and be introduced during the Queen’s Court Pageant on Thursday, Aug. 29. Selected will be a queen, a princess and duchess (chosen from among the queen candidates), junior miss and little junior miss.
The Kendall County Fair Association has awarded Queen's Court Scholarships for nearly 30 years to these young ladies. They receive these scholarships when they graduate from high school, finish their reign and are enrolled in the college or trade school of their choice.
As a special treat, in conjunction with the crowning of the 75th Kendall County queen, the association and pageant directors is inviting all past County Fair Royalty to attend a “Royalty Reunion.”
The Royalty Reunion begins with a Royal Social on Thursday (Aug. 29) under the pavilion, with wine, snacks and lots of fellowship. Then, as part of the pageant ceremony, the pageant will recognize each past court member present.
Each past court member will receive a sash and weekend pass to enjoy the 118th Kendall County Fair. On Saturday, the festivities continue with a “Royalty Reunion Ride” in the parade, for old times' sake. A light lunch and fellowship continue at the fairgrounds.
