Boerne Book Fair coming Oct. 5 to Main Plaza.
THE BOOKWORM
The 2024 Boerne Book Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, at Boerne’s Main Plaza. We already have the lineup of featured authors set and we’ll be announcing them through August.
We’re partnering with the Writers’ League of Texas once again. They will have a tent full of authors on site at the festival promoting their books. The Writers’ League will kick things off for us with a panel discussion, “Obsessed With Texas,” featuring three of their authors.
Amanda Churchill is an author in the Fort Worth area. Her debut novel, “The Turtle House,” is an amazing read. The novel goes back and forth in time between a small town in Texas in the 1990s, and pre-war Japan.
It tells the story of Lia and her grandmother Mineko, and their fascinating lives. “The Turtle House” is in print at the library, if you’d like to read it.
The latest book by award-winning author James Wade is “Hollow Out the Dark,” due for release Aug. 20. This is a gothic novel set in East Texas during the Prohibition and involves a World War I veteran pulled into a local and violent “whiskey war” to help a close friend. This book will be available for checkout at the library soon.
Austin author Scott Semegran is the final author on this panel discussion. His new novel from TCU Press is “The Codger and the Sparrow.”
In this book, a senior citizen and a teenage artist form a friendship through court-ordered community service work and decide to take a road trip to Houston in a hot pink 1970 Plymouth Barracuda.
Don’t miss the chance to listen to these talented authors talk about their books beginning at 10 a.m. Oct. 5.
The Boerne Book Festival would not be possible without the support of its sponsors, which include Bryden and Kay Moon, H-E-B, Frost Bank, Bandera Electric and Susan and Skipper Nelson. We appreciate their continued support of this endeavor.
