With or without Cole Phillips in the lineup, the Bandera baseball team still couldn’t handle the Boerne baseball squad.
With Phillips on the mound last Tuesday, the Greyhounds won 17-0 and on Friday, Boerne visited the Bulldogs without Phillips and won 16-0.
The Hounds are 20-2 overall and 2-0 in district. They’ll play Davenport twice this week, Tuesday at Davenport and Friday in Boerne.
The Bulldogs actually kept it close until the fifth inning. Boerne was only leading 2-0 through four frames, but the Grey hounds erupted for 14 runs in the top of the fifth and after Bandera didn’t score in the bottom of the frame, the game ended.
The top of the fifth proved to be a long half inning after BHS sent 19 batters to the plate, which means every batter had the chance to bat twice in the inning.
The Hounds had a triple, 4 singles, 5 walks, 2 hit batters and 3 errors to get its 14 runs.
For the game, Hutson Hendrix tripled and drove in 2 runs; Cam Johnson scored twice; Rashawn Galloway doubled and singled; Riley Pechacek singled and scored twice; Dylan Perez drove in 2 runs and scored twice; Andrew Poole collected 2 RBI; Tyler Garritano walked twice and scored twice; Connor Shill singled and scored; Max Garcia singled, pushed in a run and scored three times and Jaxon Baize plated 2 runs.
Poole went 4 innings on the hill and picked up the win after he gave up 2 hits and no runs, while striking out 4 with no walks.
Kalob Sanchez tossed an inning and struck out 2 and didn’t give up a hit, walk or run.
