The Boerne softball team closed out the first round of district play Friday night with another dominating performance.
BHS beat Wimberley 16-1 and is 5-0 in 28-4A and 18-4 overall. They open the second round Tuesday at Bandera.
Four of Boerne’s five district wins have come via the run rule, with the 6-2 victory over Fredericksburg last Tuesday the only one that wasn’t.
In last Friday’s game, Boerne was up 3-0 at the end of one and then Wimberley scored a run in the third but BHS answered with 5 runs in the third for the 8-1 lead.
From there, the Lady Hounds blew it open in the fourth with 8 more runs to kick in the mercy rule.
Madi Dorrow didn’t allow a hit and threw 64 pitches. She struck out 10 and walked 2 and the Texans’ run was unearned.
Ava Nieto hit a home run, while Cameron Cooper, Heidi Maytum, Ava Rodriguez and Reese Wilson all doubled.
Brooke Sivek finished with 3 singles, Maytum drove in 2 runs, Cooper finished with 3 total hits, Rodriguez scored 3 times, Reese Wilson picked up 2 RBI, Dorrow scored twice, Taryn Madlock drove in 2 runs, Nieto collected 3 RBI and Taylor Wilson singled and pushed in 2 runs.
