Boerne theater receives Enterprise Mobility grant

BOERNE — Enterprise Mobility Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Enterprise Rent-a-Car, has donated $3,000 to Boerne Community Theatre for operating costs.

Robin Cunningham, a board of governor’s member at Boerne Community Theatre, helped facilitate the receipt of the grant. This is the fifth time Enterprise Mobility Foundation has granted funds to BCT in recent years, Cunningham said, for which “the theater is tremendously grateful,” he said.

“I’ve been involved in numerous productions at BCT in the past five years,” Cunningham said. “It has truly become my theater home. The people at BCT are like family to me.”

Cunningham said it was his pleasure to help procure the grant for the theater.

“As a member of the board of governors at BCT, I’m thrilled to help secure some financial assistance for the theater, and we are so appreciative of being selected for the grant,” Cunningham said.

Enterprise Mobility Foundation has distributed more than a half-billion dollars to philanthropic and community projects across the United States while investing in thousands of small nonprofit organizations.

The foundation’s mission is “to support communities where Enterprise employees live by providing funding to charitable causes like higher education, health and human services, the arts, the environment, and military and disaster relief,” according to its website.

Donna Provencher, who recently took on a new fundraising role for BCT’s board, said it cannot be overstated how heavily not-for-profit community theaters rely on generous donations from community members and corporate entities alike.

“If I have learned one thing in 32 years in theater, it is this: that we are better together,” Provencher said.

“In every respect,” she said, “our theater relies on the goodwill and support of other theaters, local businesses and corporations, and generous individuals throughout the community to continue to create great art and give back to our patrons and audience members.”

The theater needs funding for new technical equipment, particularly lighting equipment, education and camp programs for youth, including scholarship funding, and other building and operating costs.

“We have many upcoming fundraising opportunities in the works, including the Big Give marketing initiative Sept. 18-19,” she said. “Our annual fundraiser and talent show Hill Country’s Got Talent on Oct. 5, where talented members of the community will come together to compete for cash prizes, with funds raised to support the theater.”

Provencher noted BCT is still seeking more corporate sponsors and private donors for Hill Country’s Got Talent. Those wishing to support the event as a corporate or other sponsor may email HCGT coordinator Dara Hinshaw at darahinshaw@ gmail.com or visit www.boernetheatre.org.
