CELEBRATING THE ARTS
Lleanna Griffin Brinsmade is a Boerne-based pastel portraiture artist who discovered her passion for art, specifically pastel portraits, after returning to Texas to be closer to family. Prior to her return to Texas, Brinsmade was a project management professional on the east coast.
Brinsmade’s current focus is developing a series of pastel paintings that capture “simple pleasures” and creating fine art portrait commissions of people and pets. She is an alumnus of Trinity University, and a certified Project Management Professional, for whom listening to live music is a “simple pleasure.”
Brinsmade’s artwork can be seen in the bank lobbies of Frost, Jefferson, Texas Heritage, Security and Bank of America, as well as The Kronkosky Center through the end of August.
Hill Country Council for the Arts present seventh Boerne BierFest
BierFest is a “three-ring circus” of events carried out on the mostly shaded property of The AgriCultural Museum and Arts Center, 102 City Park Road, Boerne.
Joining our professional artists will be an assortment of crafted beers, music, food trucks offering food that complements the variety of Texas’ finest beer poured, and keg toss and stein holding competitions.
Boerne BierFest is a qualifying event for Texas State Championships, and both male and female winners will be sponsored by Boerne BierFest. We aim to attract 50 of the Hill Country’s best-ofthe- best artists and artisans to offset our Texas craft brewers. Buy your next treasure as you sip and savor the crafted beer offered this year.

Session 5
• Aug. 6: Mobile. Explore the world of kinetic art made famous by Alexander Calder. Class will use alcohol ink, plastic and wire to form a hanging sculpture.
Practice finding the balance and attaching layer upon layer of floating shapes to build a kinetic sculpture of your very own.
• Aug. 13: Mosaic coaster. A simple construction of glass and tile. Fashion a shaped coaster made from wood and filled with a pattern of glass or shell.
Pick from a heart, hummingbird, star, or flower and grout a durable keepsake. We will use traditional materials and explore nontraditional, as well.
• Aug. 20, 27: Cricut basics. Need a refresher course, or just never mastered your new Cricut?
We will start with projects that address set-up, materials, and tools. Continue with us into a deep dive into software like merging, borders, advanced materials, and tricks.
• Sept. 3: Airbrushing with three-part stencils. Develop your own stencil to use with multiple color airbrushing applications.
Fabricate your own 3-part stencil, operate an airbrush, and practice shading and masking to create dimensional works of art.
• Sept. 10: Faux fabric. Manipulate paper and fiber to form a textile product.
We will then apply paint, pigment pencils, and oil pastels to create a focal point. Leave it as is or cut apart for mixed-media or incorporate it into a quilted project.
