DALLAS — Local interior design professional Cary Atkins received second place for “Best Residential Kitchen Remodel” at the American Society of Interior Designers Texas Chapter’s annual conference July 20 in Dallas.
Atkins’ winning design transformed a dated kitchen into a functional and stylish space that perfectly complements the client’s lifestyle.
The project involved optimizing the kitchen layout, enhancing storage and creating a bright and airy atmosphere.
Custom cabinetry, including a dedicated wall of storage and specific height adjustments, addressed the family’s needs. The addition of a raised vent hood improved functionality and safety.
To accommodate the client’s love of entertaining, Atkins incorporated a buffet area and expanded the seating space.
“This project was a rewarding challenge,” Atkins said. “The client is thrilled with the outcome, and I am grateful for the recognition from ASID.”
The kitchen’s overall aesthetic was elevated with the use of light oak flooring, a soothing color palette, and elegant finishes. Custom backsplash tiles, reclaimed beams, and strategic lighting added depth and character to the space. The result is a stunning kitchen that exceeded the client’s expectations.
