BOERNE — The Boerne Independent School District announced the results of its preliminary 2024 STAAR scores as part of its annual report at the Boerne ISD Board of Trustees monthly meeting in June.
BISD students excelled on the STAAR exam with overall student scores above both region and state averages.
There are three performance levels for each STAAR exam: “ Approaches Grade Level,” “Meets Grade Level” and “ Masters Grade Level.”
For all grades and subjects combined, 88% percent of BISD students scored at the Approaches level or above, while 70% scored at the Meets level or above, and 36% at the Masters level.
For mathematics, in which students in Grade 3 through Algebra 1students take the STAAR assessment, BISD students scored 18% higher than the state average, and scored an astounding 28% higher in 7th grade math compared to the state.
For reading, in which students in Grade 3 through English 2 students take the assessment, 17% of BISD students scored above the state average.
Overall, for all grades and subjects combined, BISD students scored at least 15% higher than state averages.
BISD will receive final STAAR data and State Accountability (A-F) ratings on Aug. 15.
