Boerne High graduate Zane Badmaev recently pitched in the national championship game for Texas A&M University.
After the Aggies took Game 1, Badmaev started Game 2 in the College World Series in their best-of-three series against the University of Tennessee.
The 6-foot-8 Badmaev pitched one full inning and gave up two hits, no walks and struck out two. The other out was a pop up to left.
Badmaev went the entire first inning and left without giving up a run. He returned to the mound in the second and gave up a hit and was then removed after just two pitches in the frame.
In total, he threw 18 pitches in the game before being replaced. Tennessee won the second game and then closed it out in Game 3 to win this year’s national championship. It was the first time either SEC school had made it to the finals.
Badmaev played for Bill Merrell at Boerne High and graduated in 2018.
