The inaugural Boerne Fashion Week begins today, created to boost local business and “create a buzz” for ticket sales for the sixth annual Boerne Retailers' Style Show & Shopping Event in September.
Amy Bierstedt with Handmade On Main said Boerne Fashion Week is a retail event using social media to promote buying local, as well as push tickets for the Sept. 21 Retailers' Style Show at the Bevy Hotel.
The style show is a ticketed event with appetizers, wine and cocktails, pop-up shopping, a live raffle, and a runway show included in the ticket price.
Tickets go on sale today for the Sept. 21 event. The inaugural Boerne Fashion Week runs through July 13. Retailers will take over the style show's social media to highlight their businesses — their fashion and style.
“It’s where all of the details of the Boerne-wide ‘sizzling summer sale’ will be announced,” Bierstedt said, “and where everyone can find out about the style show ticket release first.”
Bierstedt handles the marketing for the show, which is the brainchild of Ashley Ermis, manager of Joli Boutique on the Hill Country Mile.
“I do all the marketing and advertising for the fashion show; the show is her baby, it’s her idea. And it’s been great for the participating vendors,” she said.
Event organizers “would love to get to the point where it sells out in a few weeks,” Bierstedt said. “I thought ‘Boerne Fashion Week’ might put more eyes on it and begin to move tickets, to create a buzz.”
Show emcees in the past included Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce CEO Kim Blohm, former Mayor Tim Hendren and Boerne Radio’s Shan Wiley. Boerne Lifestyle magazine owner and editor Tara Bove will emcee this year.
“We want everybody to follow our social media this week,” she said, including on Facebook (at Boerne Retailers Style Show & Shopping Event) and on Instagram (Boerne Retailer Style and Shop).
The Sept. 21 Style Show and Shopping Event gives attendees a chance to see the latest trends and fashion in many local shops — with the bonus of giving back. All proceeds from ticket sales are donated straight to the Kendall County Women's Shelter.
