Fire crews extinguish blaze in Boerne band room

Boerne ISD officials are assessing the damage from a June 29 fire in a band room at Boerne High School.

City officials reported Boerne Fire Department responded to the early-morning blaze at the school, 1 Greyhound Lane, at 3:42 a.m. with an engine and ladder truck. The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes, the report said.

Preliminary investigation shows the cause of the fire was a lighting equipment box. Damage was confined to the immediate area and some equipment nearby but there was no extension to the structure.

With Boerne on districtwide summer break, no officials responded with information about the fire.
