Three Boerne Champion aquatic athletes have been named All-American by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association – one in diving and two in swimming.
Colin Breuer was named an All-American diver for the second year in a row.
Kate Canales, who just wrapped up her freshman year with the Chargers, was named All-American in the girls 100-yard breaststroke, while Bexon Harrison was named an All-American in the boys 50-yard freestyle.
Only the top 100 high schoolers from around the country in each event earn All-American honors.
Canales had the 52nd fastest time nationally in the girls 100 breaststroke with a 1:02.61. The time was good enough for second place at this year’s UIL 5A state meet in February. Canales was only one of eight freshman nationwide listed as All-American.
Harrison, a rising senior, who has helped the Charger water polo team finish second at the state tournament two years in a row, had a time of 20.65 in the boys 50 free that tied him for 98th nationally. His time of 20.65 earned him a bronze medal at this year’s 5A state meet in Austin.
Breuer finished fifth at this year’s state dive meet with 469.80 points. The All-American divers are listed alphabetically.
