THE BOOKWORM
School is out and the kids are looking for adventure — and as always, the Patrick Heath Public Library has something for everyone.
This year, we have our summer reading challenge set up not only for kids, but for teens and adults as well. Come by to get your Summer Reading Passport and start collecting passport “stamps” for each book you read that completes one of the challenges.
Every time you collect a stamp, you also receive a raffle ticket to put toward the specific prize you want to win, which means you can read as many or as few books as you want and still have a chance to win.
Looking for something to ‘Dune’ Join us in the Hub as we transform the space into a pop-up movie theater with free popcorn, nachos and candy for our viewers. On July 5 we will be showing “Dune: Part One,” following up with “Dune: Part Two” on July 12.
This science fiction series is rated PG-13 and is based on the 1965 book written by Frank Herbert of the same name.
Dune follows the story of young Paul Atreides, as he discovers his extraordinary destiny linked to the planet his family was entrusted to protect along with its inhabitants.
Find Pirate Patrick’s Lost Loot
This summer we are partnering with Boerne Escape Rooms to provide you with a free escape room adventure here at the library.
The amazing team at Boerne Escape Rooms already ran the escape room here on June 22 for five fun-loving groups of escapees and it was a blast!
They will be back here for more pirate-y adventures Saturday, July 20, so call the library and sign up today.
One killer party
Are you a fan of true crime and a good time? Join Killer Crafts at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10 for the final episodes of Going West’s podcast about the murder of Gabby Petito.
For our June meeting we had a special craft of diamondpainted coasters, and they turned out beautifully.
In July we will have a special craft but it is a surprise — you will have to come by to find out what it is.
Killer Crafts is a group of true crime junkies and murderinos who meet monthly at the library to listen to a true crime podcast together while enjoying snacks and crafts.
Everyone is welcome, but please note the serious and sometimes graphic nature of the podcasts that we listen to.
