‘Colton Gentry’s Third Act’, ‘Unsinkable’ featured
THE BOOKWORM
Our Summer Reading Challenge is in full swing at the library. Here are three new novels you might consider reading, if you are taking part.
On the surface Colton Gentry seems to have it all. He’s a country music singer with a recent hit. He’s married to one of the most popular country music stars and he’s the opening act for an equally stellar country performer.
But Colton Gentry is a man in pain. His best friend was killed by a mass shooter at a music festival. Colton’s marriage is falling apart, and he has a bit of a problem with alcohol.
Due to his outburst onstage about guns during a performance, Colton seemingly loses everything overnight. His career is gone, his marriage is over, and he is packed off to rehab.
Thinking he has hit rock bottom, Colton returns to his hometown. Only then does he realize true friends and family are right where he left them, many years before.
This is the plot of Jeff Z e n t n e r ’s well- written
novel “Colton Gentry’s Third Act.” It’s in print at the library, if you’d like to add it to your summer reading list.
Fans of historical fiction will enjoy reading “Unsinkable” by Jenni L. Walsh. It follows the life of the very real character Violet Jessop, who not only survived the sinking of the Titanic, but also the sinking of its sister ship the Britannic.
This novel is in print at the library, and available as an e-book and e-audiobook on the Cloud Library app.
Austin author Julia London’s brand-new novel is titled, “Nice Work, Nora November.”
After a near-death experience, the protagonist of this book decides to dive into a “reverse bucket list” and not wait to tackle things she’s always wanted to do. This book is also in print, within the library.
Our Summer Learning Odyssey for adults is themed around adventure this year. The “Armchair Adventure” series begins Wednesday, June 26 at 10 a.m. in the conference room. Special guest and bestselling author Jolene Navarro will give a talk on writing and publishing.
