Boerne Champion edged Boerne High as the best all-around sports program in the greater San Antonio area, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
The Express-News uses a formula similar to what the UIL uses to determine its Lone Star Cup winners in each classification.
Points are earned from district titles and the deeper a team goes in the playoffs the more points a school earns in boys and girls athletics. Teams can also pick up additional points for winning state championships.
Both Champion and Boerne High are no strangers to Cook Cup titles.
A Boerne ISD school has won the last four Cook Cups and the two schools have won 11 of them combined.
Champion has claimed Cook Cups in 2024, 2019, 2011, 2010 and 2009. The Chargers also have a UIL Lone Star Cup title to their credit, which is basically a state championship.
Boerne High has six Cook Cup titles and won the previous three in 2023, 2022, 2021, along with three in a row from 2005-2007.
The six Cook Cups the Greyhounds have won is the most by any school, while Champion is tied with Reagan for second most with five each.
