BOERNE — The Boerne ISD Community Leadership Academy has opened applications for its second class, open to residents who wish to build their understanding of Boerne ISD.
This program consists of five, halfday sessions from October to March during the 2024-2025 school year. The agendas for these sessions will include tours of campus and district facilities, and opportunities to visit with school board members, administrators and staff.
Each session meets at 8 a.m. in the Boerne ISD Board Room, 235 Johns Road, and concludes by 1:30 p.m. The session dates for the Community Leadership Academy are Tuesday, Oct. 1; Wednesday, Nov. 20; Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025; Wednesday, Feb. 12; and Tuesday, March 4.
The program launched in 2023-24 year with 32 BISD residents taking part.
Participants will learn about the board of trustees’ roles in making the district fiscally and academically exceptional, district operations and the impact on the education of students, as well as district programs and curriculum that are chosen to support students academically.
Some of the topics to be covered in the program are budgeting and expenditure procedures; student and staff safety programs and protocols; the district’s whole-child approach to the educational experience; biliteracy programs; and college and career readiness, including Career and Technical Education program (CTE) opportunities for students.
This academy is free and open to those who reside in or own/operate a business or organization within the boundaries of the Boerne ISD.
