Chargers get new softball, boys soccer head coaches

Boerne ISD has recently announced they have filled two vacant head coaching spots at Boerne Champion.

Charger assistant softball coach Sara Cammer has been elevated to the head coaching spot and Dustin Gold has been hired the new boys soccer coach.

Sara Cammer

Sara Cammer will succeed Bethany Holtorf as the new Champion softball coach.

Holtorf is stepping down after seven years with the program. She was also the assistant volleyball coach.

Cammer assisted Holtorf this past season and taught at BMSS.

Cammer has plenty of coaching experience and was the head coach at Fredericksburg during the 2022-23 season and was also the head coach at Ranger College before that.

She has also spent time coaching at UT-Permian Basin and at Louisiana State University – Alexandria.

She was Sara Corcoran in high school and was part of the 2007 Boerne High state championship softball team as the starting shortstop.

Sara married her high school sweetheart, Ben Cammer, who was on the baseball Greyhound baseball team. They coached together at Ranger College.

Sara’s grandfather Corky Corcoran used to write for the Boerne Star years ago as a sports correspondent many years ago and he was also the BISD Stadium announcer for Greyhound football games during that time.

Dustin Gold

According to a statement released by Boerne ISD, Gold has more than 20 years of soccer head coaching experience.

Gold was the head girls soccer coach at NB Canyon for 22 years and won 320 matches and made 18 playoff appearances. He also served as an assistant coach for seven years at Texas Lutheran University from 2016-2022 and was the head boys coach at Clark for the past two seasons.
