The Geneva School of Boerne girls soccer team began district play Friday with a road trip to Austin Regents.

The Geneva School of Boerne girls soccer team began district play Friday with a road trip to Austin Regents.

It was close early but Regents pulled away for the 3-1 win. The Eagles played Monday at home vs Hyde Park of Austin. Be sure to check the Boerne Star for details of that contest.

In Friday’s match, Geneva took the early lead and scored 11 minutes into the first half with a goal by Alex Doran on an assist from her sister Sam Doran.

The Lady Knights would equalize just minutes before the half ended to tie it up at 1-1.

Regents recorded the go-ahead goal 18 minutes into the second half and closed the game with a converted penalty kick for the 3-1 final.

Besides the goal and assist from the Doran sisters, coach Marty Morris said other offensive standouts were Kaylie Stringfellow, Avery Myrick and KK Chisholm who put pressure on the Austin school. The team had 9 shots on goal and 75 percent possession.

Defensive standouts were keeper Wimberley Hochart with 5 saves, while Ellie LeDoux, Olivia Morgan, Sam Doran and Kate Friesenhahn played solid defense, Morris said.
