Boerne pool party -- BIG SCAM

Person using bogus party claim to extort money from vendors; 'Don't pay,' city advises; Call Boerne PD instead
Boerne pool party -- BIG SCAM

The city of Boerne is informing residents about a scam involving the Boerne Municipal Pool.

A fraudulent individual has been advertising a large event at the pool, claiming to have invited 2,000 people.

This scammer has been promoting the fictitious non-event and is contacting potential vendors, according to Chris Shadrock, Boerne director of communications. The fraudulent schemer is asking for payment in exchange for a spot at the pool.

This came to light when a vendor, who had already paid, called city officials to confirm the event's authenticity. The amount the vendor paid has not been disclosed.

City staffers immediately reported the incident to Boerne Police Department, which is investigating.

"Please remain vigilant and always verify the legitimacy of events and opportunities before making any payments," Shadrock said. He urged anyone with information or who might have been affected by this scam, to immediately contact the Boerne PD on its non-emergency line at 830-249-8645 immediately.
