Boerne High and Davenport tied for this year’s 26-4A title in girls soccer and consequently the Lady Greyhounds and Lady Wolves dominated this year’s 26-4A selections.

A total of 31 Boerne and Davenport players landed on one of the three all-district teams, while some earned superlative awards.

Of the 31 players, 16 were from Boerne High and 15 came from Davenport.

As far as superlatives, junior Anna Darling was named the Co-Midfielder of the Year, junior Kailey Stringfellow was named the Co-Defender of the Year and junior Kinsley Sawyer was named Co-Goalkeeper of the Year. All three superlative awards were all shared with Davenport players.

For BHS, first-team selections include freshman Ocean Valenciano, freshman Isabella Pettet, junior Avery Ukeiley and junior Sophia Harper.

Second-team picks were sophomore Sadie Parker, sophomore Malahey Merkens, freshman Sophia Namvar and senior A’Marie Ramirez.

Honorable Mention picks for the Lady Hounds include senior Tommie Rand, sophomore Catherine Hiner, junior Amelia Cohoon, junior Kennedy Luevano and sophomore Molly Miller.

Boerne had a great year and it ended at the state tournament for the third season in a row.

The Lady Hounds tied Davenport for first in district play at 7-1-2. The Wolves took the No. 1 seed and Boerne was the No. 2 seed going into the playoffs but it didn’t really matter because they met in the regional championship anyway.

BHS won in a shootout and advanced to state where they defeated Salado in overtime, 2-1, in the state semifinals. They advanced to the finals where they were defeated in the 4A championship match by Celina, 1-0.

It was the third straight state title by Celina, who have been the only team to defeat the Lady Greyhounds in the playoffs the last three seasons.

BHS finished the year at 23-2-3.
