Davenport beats Bobcats by five points

The Comfort boys basketball team hosted Davenport on Friday night and lost by five points.

The Comfort boys basketball team hosted Davenport on Friday night and lost by five points.

Davenport dropped the Bobcats, 56-51. With the loss, the Cats fall to 13-9. They travel to Canyon Lake on Tuesday.

Davenport was up by five points at the end of the first quarter and then the teams played even after that.

After the first quarter where the Cats were down 17-12, the teams scored 39 points apiece over the final three stanzas.

Davenport won the second, 17-15, and Comfort was trailing at the half, 34-27. The Bobcats made a push and outscored Davenport in the third, 15-9, and the lead was down to just a point at 43-42 but Davenport won the fourth quarter, 13-9, to close it out.

Luis Martinez led the Bobcats with 17 points, Tucker Weyel added 13 points, Issac Duran scored 5, Santos Hernandez and Terick Rodriguez both netted 4, Tony Ybarra and Eli Gilliland tallied 3 each and Justin Gonzalez dropped in 2.
