Boerne ISD had several athletes compete in last week’s regional tennis tournament and both the Chargers and Greyhounds will be sending entries to compete at this week’s state meet.

The 4A and 5A tournaments are at the Northside Anne Marie courts and the event will be held Thursday and Friday.

A total of six BISD athletes will vie for a state championship.

Boerne Champion

Boerne Champion sent six tennis players to last weekend’s Region IV-5A tournament in Corpus Christi and two of them are advancing to this week’s state tournament in San Antonio.

Charles Henderson and Amber Lewis won the regional title in mixed doubles and will play Thursday in the 5A quarterfinals at 2 p.m., against Brandon Cowling and Kate Delgado of Abilene Wylie.

The winner of that match advances to the semifinals later that day and is guaranteed at least a state bronze medal.

It’s the fourth year in a row for Lewis to qualify for the state tournament.

The championship match is Friday at 11 a.m.

At regionals, Greta Clauss and Addison Day competed in girls doubles and finished fourth.

Isabella Davila and Serena Sharma played in girls singles and both won their first-round matches but were eliminated in the next round.
