Both pitchers were outstanding and combined for 28 strikeouts, but the Yellowjackets prevailed, 2-1.

Comfort slips to 14-4 over all and 1-2 in district. The Deer visits Ingram on Tuesday.

Comfort put together a twoout rally in the second frame to record its only run of the game. Layla Castro and Tilly Avalos singled and then a misplayed ball on a Katie Haffner hit allowed Castro to score from second and put the Deer ahead.

The 1-0 lead held until the fourth when Llano used a walk and two singles to score a couple of runs and take the 2-1 edge.

Neither team scored after that and Llano picked up the close win.

Emma Wardlaw went all 7 innings and threw 101 pitches. She fanned 15, walked 2 and both runs she gave up were earned.

Llano’s Madison Kloepper tossed 91 pitches in the win and struck out 13 and walked just 1.

Morgan Hansen doubled off Kloepper, Layla Castro singled and scored, while Avalos and Tori Hernandez both singled.
