Boerne Champion competed at this year’s District 26-5A tennis tournament last week in Kerrville and qualified six players in four events to the Region IV-5A tournament.
Regionals is set for Friday and Saturday, May 10-11, in Corpus Christi.
Only the top two in each category advance to regionals and the Chargers had three 1st-place finishes and another at 2nd place.
Charles Henderson and Amber Lewis took 1st in mixed doubles, Greta Clauss and Addison Day teamed up for 1st in girls doubles, Isabella Davila came in 1st in girls singles and Serena Sharma placed 2nd in girls singles to all advance to state.
There were other Charger players who medaled but didn’t advance to regionals and will serve as alternates.
Sydni Sage and Katelyn McLaughlin finished 3rd in girls doubles, Cameron Zapata and Ben Nicholson were 3rd in mixed doubles and Christian Okey placed 3rd in boys singles.
