CELEBRATING THE ARTS
Chris Elliff has been interested in painting since early childhood. An artist friend and mentor led her to impressionism and abstract art. While portraits, landscapes and still life paintings are part of Elliff’s repertoire, color, motion and various forms of abstraction are her primary focus.
While realism is an artist’s vision and reproduction of what they see in nature, people, animals and still life, abstract art is the artist’s expression of personal feelings, attitude and creative expression of something new and original. Elliff finds the latter art form much more challenging and enjoyable to create.
After raising three sons and having a career in nursing after an extended education in the health field –—bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing, and a master’s in public health — she retired early to handle personal health issues.
With her children educated, married and independent, she returned to her pursuit of art. With limited formal painting instruction and with only one undergraduate class, she has developed her own style and vision.
Look for a selection of Elliff’s artwork at the following locations, through the end of the month: Frost Bank, Jefferson Bank, Texas Heritage Bank, Bank of America and Security State Bank in Boerne.
