Greyhound baseball team locks up 27-4A title

With Boerne’s 8-1 win over the Wimberley baseball team Tuesday night on the road, the Hound hardballers have wrapped up this year’s district title.

Boerne is 21-8 overall and 11-3 in district. They close out the regular season Friday at home by hosting the Texans to close out their series.

BHS and Wimberley are 1-1 in their two games played so far.

Boerne took a 4-0 lead into the seventh and then matched those 4 runs with 4 more to get their 8 runs, while the Texans didn’t score their lone run until the bottom of the seventh.

The Hounds knocked out 11 hits, including 6 that went for extra bases.

Dylan Perez was on fire and recorded two triples and a double and he drove in 2 runs and scored once.

Grant Tamplet doubled in the second and finished with 2 RBI and a run scored, Hutson Hendrix doubled and singled, pushed in a run and scored once, while Jace Preston singled and also doubled in the first inning to give Boerne the early 1-0 lead.

Ryan Hooper hit 2 singles and scored a run, Jackson Grimes walked and scored, Reese House walked twice, picked up an RBI and Hudson McNew singled and scored.

Campbell Jackson picked up the win in six innings of work and scattered 6 hits, only gave up 1 run, walked 2 and struck out 3.

Perez also helped out on the mound to go with his 2 triples and a double after he tossed an inning and didn’t give up a hit or run and walked just 1 and struck out 2.
