The Comfort softball team closed out its regular season with a game last week against Ingram.
Comfort put up quite a fight in its last game of the 2024 season and went extra inning with the Warriors.
Ingram won the tightly contested contest 7-5 after scoring two runs in the top of the eighth frame.
Comfort ends its season at 4-17 overall and 1-9 in district.
The Deer played Ingram much better in their second- round meeting after losing to the Warriors in the first round, 15-0.
It was 1-1 after two innings and stayed that way until the fifth when Ingram plated 2 runs for the 3-1 edge but Comfort answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 5-3 lead.
The Deer didn’t score after the fifth frame, while Ingram plated runs in its last four at bats.
The Warriors cut into the lead in the sixth with a run and then tied it at 5-5 with another run.
Ingram scored 2 runs in the top of the eighth and wrapped up the win in the bottom half of the inning after Comfort didn’t score.
Hits were pretty even and the Deer knocked out 7 hits, compared to 8 for the Warriors.
Anna Munoz doubled, Ella Thiele slapped out 3 hits, drove in a run and scored once, Hope Van Geffen singled, scored and pushed in 2 runs, Faith Diaz de Villegas singled, picked up an RBI and scored a run, Jordan Judkins singled and Lorena Cabral singled, while Kaydence Stehling and Kippy Sterling both plated one run each.
Thiele went 7.1 innings and gave up 8 hits, 7 earned runs and struck out 9, while Lilly Bates faced one batter in the game.
