CELEBRATING THE ARTS
We have the opportunity this week to ponder the digital art and photography of Mark Holly. Holly’s digital art is often described as edgy with his use of bold colors, unique shapes, forms, and compositions.
In some of his images, and some reminiscent of Maxfield Parrish, Holly integrates images of young girls as observers, in either detailed natural backgrounds or dropped into pleasant, peaceful, dreamlike settings.
In Holly’s words, “Photography and digital art have opened my eyes and motivated me to try many new techniques, from photorealism to contemporary and abstracts.” There are often elements of realism hidden in his abstracts.
He has received numerous awards, magazine covers and articles about his process and inspiration. You can view a sampling of Holly’s work at mshdigitalart.com, or text him for a visit to his studio, 210-367-6275.
Boerne has enlisted assistance from Keen Independent Research, participating in a discovery trip, to facilitate an Art and Culture Master Plan — to be created by and for the residents and community members of our Hill Country town.
We ask stakeholders in this initiative — and interested residents — take time to complete a master plan survey to provide your insights and recommendations for an improved arts and cultural footprint in Boerne.
For details, go to: https:// keenindependent. com/ studies/ boerneartsandculture. The study e-mail address is: boerneartsandculture@ keenindependent. com; and a study hotline is 602-767-7067.
