Both the Boerne High soccer teams returned from spring break and closed out district play on Monday.
The BHS boys and girls both defeated Bandera and will open the playoffs Friday against the same school.
BHS plays Austin Achieve in a doubleheader Friday at Marble Falls. The girls play at 5 p.m., and the boys begin at 7 p.m.
The Champion girls open the postseason also on Friday and will tangle with George town at San Marcos, 7 p.m.
BHS girls
Boerne won Monday’s match at home against Bandera, 9-0, and will enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed from 26-4A.
Wimberley snapped Boerne’s seven-year run as district champs after the Texans beat Davenport, 2-0, and finished with a record of 9-1-2 to earn 29 points. Boerne was 8-1-3 in district (15-3-5 overall) and tallied 27 points.
Boerne needed a Wimberley loss or tie to continue the impressive streak. It’s 3 points for a district win, 1 for a tie and none for a loss according to the district rules.
In Monday’s match, Madeline Davis finished with a hat trick and scored 3 goals, Gigi Hernandez added 2 goals, while Hannah Bowen, Sophia Brumley, A’Marie Ramirez and Kyle Combs all knocked in a goal.
Combs also tallied 4 assists, while Taylor Durham and Sophia Harper had 1 assist each.
BHS boys
The Boerne boys wrapped up the district title before spring break but wanted to stay perfect in 26-4A and did so with a 5-0 win over the Bulldogs on Monday.
BHS went 12-0 in district and is 20-2-1 overall.
Sam Theiss finished with 2 goals, while Bear Kelly, Juan Castro and Justin Moore all knocked in single goals for the Hounds, who have won four straight district titles.
Landon Murphy recorded 2 assists, while Hudson Stevens, Kelly and Theiss had 1 assist apiece.
