A bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh propelled the Blanco baseball team past Comfort last Friday night.
With the contest knotted up at 3-3 and the bases juiced for Blanco, the fourth batter in the inning for the Panthers was walked on four pitches to bring in the runner from third for the 4-3 victory.
Comfort drops to 15-6 overall and was swept by Blanco this year. The Bobcats are 4-3 in district. Comfort played Ingram early this week and closes out district action with two games next week against Brady and Llano.
Comfort took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Micah Nye single to score Mason West, who reached on a single.
Blanco pulled ahead in the third with 3 singles and 2 walks and scored 2 runs for the 2-1 advantage.
The Panthers added another run in the fifth on a double and a single and opened up a 3-1 advantage and it stayed that way until the seventh when the Bobcats tied it with 2 runs.
A dropped third strike that allowed a base runner, 2 walks and singles and West tied it up at 3-3 and sent it to the bottom of the seventh.
Blanco’s first batter walked, then the next batter was intentionally walked. A single loaded the bases and then a walk to the fourth batter in the inning on four straight pitches brought in the winning run from third for the walk-off win.
Both teams had 6 hits in the game and there was only one error in the game.
West finished with 2 hits, 1 RBI and a run scored, Nye hit an RBI single, Tucker Rust singled and walked, Zach Jones singled and Van Geffen recorded an RBI single.
Rust went 2.2 innings on the hill, gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks and fanned 4, Jones pitched 2.1 frames, yielded 2 hits, 1 run and sat down 2, while Mason Matter tossed an inning and struck out 2, walked 3 and gave up a hit and a run.
