After dropping a baseball game to Canyon Lake last Tuesday, the Greyhounds were able to split the week with the Hawks after BHS won Friday’s contest at Canyon Lake, 10-1.
Boerne wins their season series over the Hawks, 2-1, and improves to 9-2 in district and 19-7 overall.
The Greyhounds start a series with Davenport this week and hosted the Wolves Tuesday and visit Davenport Friday.
Boerne closes out the regular season next week with two games against Wimberley.
The Greyhounds had it going on both offense and defense last Friday.
Pitcher Jackson Grimes struck out 16 batters and wasn’t far from a perfect game. Grimes tossed a no hitter, didn’t give up an earned run and only walked 1, while fanning 16 on 108 pitches.
Offensively, the Boerne bats knocked out 2 home runs and 3 doubles and drove in 9 runs.
Hudson McNew got things going right away and homered in the first inning to drive in 2 runs, while Hutson Hendrix doubled and brought in another run for the 3-0 lead at the end of one.
Boerne added 3 more runs in the second to take a 6-0 lead and then closed it with 4 runs in the top of the sixth frame.
Jace Preston homered in that sixth to bring in 2 of the runs, while Walker Hill doubled and drove in the other 2 runs.
Dylan Perez also hit a 2-bagger in the game and scored, while Hill finished with 3 RBI and scored, Preston tallied 2 RBI and scored twice and McNew collected 3 RBI in the game and also singled.
Ryan Hooper walked and scored, Hendrix had his RBI double, Grimes helped his cause with a single, Reese House walked and scored 2 runs and Grant Tamplet hit 2 singles and scored 2 runs.
