Boerne Star ‘Voters Guide’ coming Sunday

Early voting begins April 22 for Boerne residents who will vote to elect three members to the Boerne City Council and Boerne Independent School District board of trustees.

All three Boerne ISD board spots will be on all ballots, while residents in voting Districts 1, 3 and 5 will have the City Council races on their ballots.

Early voting runs April 22-30 prior to Election Day Saturday, May 4.

Three Boerne City Council members are running for re-election, and each has an opponent. District 1’s Ty Wolosin is facing Jeremy Pratt; Daniel Weis filed to run against District 3 incumbent Councilman Quinten Scott; and Joseph Macaluso faces a challenge from Nick Nuth in his bid for re-election in District 5.

On the Boerne ISD school board, only one of three current trustees chose to run for re-election. Place 1 trustee and board President Carlin Friar is running for re-election and faces opposition from two challengers, Candace Affeldt and Mike Stewart.

Place 2 Trustee Joe Tidwell chose not to run for re-election, leaving his Place 2 post to the victor between candidates Noah Oviedo and Dallas Pipes.

Place 3’s current Trustee Jessica Davila also did not run for re-election. The candidates seeking to fill her Place 3 seat are Courtney Darter Bruce and Thomas Nordstrand.

In the April 21 Boerne Star Voters Guide, all candidates will have space to introduce themselves, state their desires to run to represent Boerne’s residents and then answer three specific questions posed to all candidates.

Their answers will appear as received, except for slight editing to conform to AP Style (spelling, grammar, etc.) and will include an email address where each can be contacted between the publishing date and the May 4 election.
