Charges have yet to be filed against parties involved in a shooting at The Hills at Fair Oaks Apartments Friday that left two people in critical condition.
At least one of the two men injured in the shooting remains critical after being shot in the head, Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy Johnny Garcia said.
Another individual was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, with shotgun wounds to the torso and leg.
Garcia on Tuesday said charges have not been filed and the involved parties’ names have not been released, as deputies continue their investigation.
A gun purchase between two sets of people went awry, according to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.
He said the incident involved occupants in two vehicles. One car, with three occupants, was selling a gun to two men in a second vehicle, its occupants a 15- and a 20-year-old.
“At some point, it appears that deal went south and there may have been an exchange of gunfire. All we have is evidence that the party of two began to shoot at the party of three,” Salazar said Friday at the scene, according to a sher- iff’s office report.
A car chase began, Salazar said, and the 15- and 20-year-old fired at least two shots at the other car. The driver of that car was shot in the head and one of his passengers — the individual selling the gun — was struck in the torso, according to the sheriff’s report.
It is not clear which vehicle was giving chase, and which was fleeing the other.
The two alleged shooters contacted the sheriff’s department, Salazar added, saying they were being robbed. They were taken into custody as a result.
It is also not known if any of the individuals involved are residents of the apartment complex off Interstate 10, behind Napa Oaks. The apartment complex borders nearby Fair Oaks Ranch but is not within its city limits.
