Geneva School of Boerne made quick work of the Corpus Christi Incarnate Word baseball team Tuesday.
The Eagles won 10-0 in six innings to pick up a district victory in Corpus Christi.
Geneva is 14-6 overall and 4-1 in district. They hosted Holy Cross Friday, the only team to defeat the Eagles in district play this year and it was by one run.
Geneva scored in 4 of 6 innings Tuesday and tallied single runs in the first and second frames for the 2-0 lead.
After neither team scored in the third, the Eagles created some distance with 5 runs in the fourth to open up a 7-0 advantage.
There were no runs scored in the fifth but Geneva tallied the 3 runs needed to reach 10 in the sixth. After the Angels didn’t score in the bottom of the frame the game ended via the mercy rule.
Geneva finished with 10 hits, including a triple from Colton Lutz who also singled and drove in 2 runs.
Jake Roberson knocked out 2 doubles to help his cause and pushed in a run and walked once.
Cannon Menn singled and scored twice, Rooster Jons walked, picked up an RBI and plated a run, Shawn George knocked in a run and scored a run.
Gray Bruner singled, walked and scored a run, TJ Cross pushed in a run and Bryce Hanover hit 2 singles, drove in a run and scored once.
Not only did Roberson knock out 2 doubles, but he also picked up the win from the mound in 5.1 innings of work. Roberson only gave up 1 hit, no runs, 1 walk and fanned 7.
Menn closed it out and faced 3 batters and yielded a hit, no walks or runs and struck out 1.
